Description:

Amphus is a computer hardware and electronics company. It is also into semiconductors. It started in 2000, more popular under the name Vadem. It is selling Vadem ASIC products.

Top executives are listed as Henry Fung, CEO and Chairman; Siu Tsang, VP Operations; Edmond Ku, VP Production Development; Joseph Wei, VP Marketing; and Andy Bataille, Director of Sales.

Vadem ASIC products include the HP Omnigo personal digital assistant (PDA), the Power Management Chip of Intel, the Single Chip PC used in the IBM Simon smart phone, and the Seiko Epson SmartPad.

Amphus provides replacements or parts no longer available to original product manufacturers (OPM). It gives flexibility to clients. They could redesign their products anytime they want.

Amphus also offers partnering deals with other semiconductor companies. It is aimed in continuing sales of products no longer offered by OPMS.

All these efforts are geared towards giving wide support and technical assistance to their customers.

Amphus' business model is formatted on a revenue and sharing basis. For OPMs, partnerships provide an outsourcing channel, a revenue stream and an opportunity to redirect valuable resources to emphasize on product developments.

Meanwhile, partnerships for customers give them the chance to continue their product life cycles without the need to stock up parts or to redesign the products requiring cash outlay.

The company is presently offering the product families: Serial Communication Controllers, PC Card Host Adapters and System-on-a-Chip (SOC) devices. These are products no longer supported by their OPMs.

The VG-230 is battery-efficient. Its main feature is the one-chip PC platform complete with necessary peripherals. It includes an 8086-compatible 16 megahertz NEC V30HL processor, combined with software and hardware features.

The VG-230 is contained in a single 160-pin CMOS chip and handles all personal computer (PC) functions such as XT core logic, 16-bit CPU, LCD controller, PC card controller and keyboard scanner.

The Amphus VG-CD1400 Serial Communication Controller is the equivalent of the Intel SCD 1400 Serial Communication Controller. It efficiently transfers data from a channel or series of channels, to a host or server. This inevitably minimizes overhead costs.

Amphus is a private corporation currently based in Santa Clara, California.

The main investors are ITX International Holdings, Tatung and Vadem.
