Infotec Development Inc., based in Santa Anna, California provides computer applications and system integration to a number of public utilities and government agencies. In August of 1992, the company acquired OMA Corp. and renamed the company QMA/Infotec. OMA Corp. manufactures information systems and positive identification imaging.
QMA/Infotec then operated as an Infotec division and was headquartered in McLean, Virginia. It continued to be managed by its founders Mike Mahoney and Wayne Quick. Infotec had been listed by the Federal Computer Week as among the top 15 providers of information technology to the US government.
In July 1996, the completion of the proposed merger between Infotec Development Inc. and Pacer Systems came through when the said transaction was approved in a Pacer shareholders' meeting. The company is now called Pacer Infotech Inc. and is headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts.
The publicly held IT or information technology services firm, Pacer, is primarily involved in government engineering and electronic systems integration contracts and caters largely to the U.S. Navy. The privately held is also involved in the same business and primarily services the NASA and the United States Air Force.
Other than its business involving core systems integration, the other units of Pacer Infotec are specializing in geographic and land management information systems and services or GIS/LMIS. Likewise, it specializes in local area network systems and services, and proprietary electronic products.
Under the terms made during the merger, former Infotec shareholders have received 44 per cent of the Pacer Infotec stock. Pacer Infotec presently has about 540 people in its wing and has a backlog of contracts worth $ 142 million. This company has more than 20 sites in the United States and maintains offices in Moscow and London.
The CEO and Chairman of the Board, John C. Rennie has stated that the opportunities for Pacer Infotec are expanding and that the technical strengths and competitiveness of the new company should be maintained to ensure rejuvenated growth. He furthered that Pacer Infotec's management bench strength would greatly contribute to absorb and achieve higher sales levels when enhanced with more external growth. John C. Rennie was the former Chairman of the Board and CEO of Pacer Systems.
