A-DATA Technology Company is a Taiwan-based flash and memory device manufacturer. Simon Chen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, founded the company in May 2001. Shalley Chen is the current Executive Vice President, while Gibson Chen is the Vice President.
A-DATA's initial operations started with only 20 employees. A-DATA registered its IPO (Initial Public Offering) in the TAIEX stock exchange, an integral move to their success in the Taiwanese market.
A-DATA primarily produced only DRAM modules. The company later diversified to include multimedia solutions and flash peripherals.
Due to the market demand for DRAM memory and flash-oriented devices, A-DATA is now the second largest global provider of DRAM modules and fourth largest manufacturer of flash disks. This is based on the 2006 DRAMeXchange and iSuppli reports.
A-DATA has several very notable products. The Eee Personal Computer Edition is a branded memory device that doubles as a secondary HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for Eee PCs. This has the approval of ASUS.
The NTSC USB Flash Drives are memory storage devices that can be worn as fashion accessories.
The Disney USB Flash Drives are a Disney-themed product line of flash drives, digital photo frames, and memory devices.
The Show Me Disk USB Flash drives incorporate external LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens.
The Solar Disk USB Flash Drives have built-in solar energy panels that eliminate the need for batteries.
The Info SDs are SD cards which incorporate LED screens to indicate available storage space.
The Fingerprint Disks are USB flash drives which integrate a fingerprint reader into the USB flash drive for identification and security purposes.
Other A-DATA Technology products are the CompactFlash and SecureDigital Memory Cards, Solid-state Drives, and ExpressCards.
Hand-in-hand with the senior management board, the company has acquired recognition as the No.1 DRAM Module Provider in Asia.
It was also listed in the Taiwan OTC (Over-The-Counter) stock exchange. It was No. 3 in the Top 100 of Taiwan Technology, and No. 14 in the 2006 Taiwan Top 20 Global Brands.
